It is a pleasure to do my small part among the set duties as part of this group.
We would be most grateful if you took the time to read our journal posts, and partake in any of our projected upcoming activities...

CGPintor aims to:
Showcase the best of  Filipino Digital Paintings
Therefore it is imperative that we look for Pinoys and their most astounding work, and condense them into our common gallery.
This can give us the benefit of receiving some of the choice picks in our inboxes.
Aside from that, members who are following the group can contribute by suggesting artworks which they feel are outstanding representations of Filipino Ingenuity - whether from their own personal gallery, or from other Pinoy deviants.
There are many factors by which we judge submissions.

First and foremost we are a "Painter's" group, therefore the submissions should display exemplary painterly techniques, some of which are:
styles like smoothly airbrushed look, or loose rough strokes, or realism or others; all of which display extensive blending methods and choice of colors, unique & captivating composition & lay-outs, knowledge of anatomy and it's execution, realism, details, etc. the list goes on.

Such techniques may be seen even in comic and anime style arts - despite the obvious outlines which can be an issue to some, the piece could be colored in a well-painted way, with good form, depth, and details, or a simplistic approach that simulated subtly painted art. The painterly style is not limited/defined by theme or method.

Impact is a big factor. Pose & positioning, use of color & contrast, etc. As much as possible, a fully painted piece is desirable - a well-realized and executed painting should always have a full background. A blank background is acceptable if it adds to the mood of the main figure as part of the story it tells. But take a look at real paintings in museums and such, you most likely will not find a background-less painting hanging in frames. In Fine Arts, it can be deemed as unfinished, and unfinished work is not at its best and therefore, hardly ever showcased.

Initial impact has to push through to the end, meaning, If it looks good as a thumbnail, then it should look even better when fully-viewed. We all want to produce paintings, not sketches. When you make a painting, give it all you've got, and when you've given it your all, push yourself to give a little more. You musn't get lazy in the middle of a piece, but it happens sometimes, and when it does, honestly would that be a piece you want to show-off?
Remember, the quality of an artist is reflected in his work he chooses to display.

With points like those aforementioned, CGPintor wants style, technique, and Impact. Only the Best if possible. The group was started with high standards, and it would be great if we maintain those standards.

One shouldn't take it personally if an artwork that was submitted is rejected from our gallery. It takes at least 5 people to accept the artwork and can take up to 9 votes before a consensus can be achieved. The people who vote (yes) or (no) have different preferences and standards, and they are not always the same set of people who make the decision. No hard feelings if your work is denied, just do your best next time. We have high standards, but this is not to ostracize the inexperienced.

This brings us to the next point-

CGPintor looks to the improvement of all aspiring CG Painters:

The CGP Gallery is not a means to feature artworks and get them more pageviews. There are so many other groups that will accept just any artwork since their aim is to simply make features. Here, we want to show the best that we can do and the best that we can find. Why? Because we want viewers so exclaim "Oh gawa ng Pinoy Yan? Wow!". Secondly, we want to find inspiration for ourselves closer to home - fellow Filipinos. Don't hesitate to note the group, asking for crits , and tips . Feel free to note some of us personally, if you need painting advice. We're here to share, inspire, and learn. Yes, even the regular contributors & "masters" have something to learn from the works posted in our gallery..

CRITERIA FOR APPROVAL

Submissions must contain the following:
Owner of the artwork must be a Filipino; natural-born Filipino citizen; from a Filipino descent; or half-Filipino
We are encouraging our members and contributors to submit their BEST works!
We wish to showcase in our gallery such deviations wherein attention to painting styles & techniques have been employed.
Submitted artworks must meet CGPintor's appropriate standards for digital painting.
No traditional work is allowed here
Anime work will only be added if it is exceptional work (it must be painted, of course)
We segregate submissions from our TBR (to be rated) folder, into ranked folders (1-5 star). Hopefully we will all be motivated to increase our skills and aim for the 5 star folder.
Personally commissioned artwork, if approved, will be put in a specific folder for commisisons. Professional/Commercial commissions will be in our ranked folders.
Artworks created as contest entries outside of CGPintor will not be accepted while the contest is ongoing. You may submit it after the end of the contest period.
We trust that you pick good art only to be added to our gallery
Poorly picked submissions will be removed/denied by the staff. Deviations can be rejected if the artworks did not have the qualities of a masterfully made artwork.
Accepted artworks are those paintings which are good- they show general understanding of colours, composition, anatomy etc.
The painting needs to be something you are proud of. Submit only your best.
Art may or may not have a background, but we prefer fully painted art with backgrounds.

REASON FOR DISAPPROVAL

All submissions are subjected to evaluation and maybe declined for reasons such as:
We do not allow any form of traced artworks in our gallery. We define Trace Painting as following the lines of the original or copying the image from a referenced photo or artwork of another artist. It also involves making an impression by painting to match the original or get creative and paint the image in different colors, adjusting, changing or adding more details to the artwork. If the submitted work is proven to be traced, the artwork shall be removed and forfeited from the Gallery/Submission request.
We do not accept Matte Painted artworks.
Cel-shading or Toon shading is not part of the painting style the group accepts.
We do not allow half-finished, incomplete, undone, slightly painted artworks. Make sure all the details and strokes are complete and clean before you submit it.

Remember, this isn't really a place to get more pageviews & faves for your work. Here we take pride in the quality of our Fellow Filipino's work. Here we can be Painters among painters, looking to improve ourselves by seeing other works and listening to their opinions. Here we can be painters who can give and take both praise & criticism with maturity & an open mind.

A true artist challenges himself to do better each time. When faced with greatness, an artist is inspired, and strives to achieve a similar degree of excellence.
